Are you a Youtuber, Vlogger, Podcaster, Singer or need a microphone? Well then you must have a good microphone in a budget. What if we tell you that you can get one of the best lavalier microphone in less than PKR 2000. Yes having a microphone is a necessity if you are into recording videos or producing videos or audio. A good microphone also enhances your audio during a video call as well. You can get professional audio emitted in a budget.

Recently we got the Boya M1 and after extensive usage of using it for recording, we are sharing our valuable experience with you.

Have you tried the cheap lavalier microphones in the budget of PKR 800, 900 and then later were fooled by the sellers of getting a defective product? Well we all have gone through it. What if I tell you to increase your budget less than PKR 2000 to get a quality microphone. A good microphone is one of the best investment a video producer or a podcaster can do.

Inside the Box

Inside the box you get the microphone Boya BY M1 (with 6 meter cable), 1/4 adapter, lapel clip, foam windscreen, user manual, LR44 battery and carrying travel friendly pouch.

Design

This is a product by the brand Boya known for their audio devices. It is having dimensions of 12.7 x 5.1 x 10.2cm. It has total weight of 136g.

The best part of the device is that it has large 20 feet audio cable. So it has 6 meters long cable which is useful if you are away from the camera and also you can clip in your collar giving you a professional look.

The company provides 1 year of warranty with the product. This device is compatible with Smartphones, DSLR, PC, tablets, Camcorders, audio recorders PC, etc. It has 3.5mm 4 pole gold plated plug, though you also get a 1/4″ adapter.

There is a ON/OFF switch in the microphone. So to connect it to DSLR, you need to switch the microphone ON. You got to use the battery provided in the box for using the microphone with a DSLR. For smartphones, you don’t need to keep it switched OFF. Also there is no need to put in the battery while using a smartphone as this microphone uses the smartphone’s battery.

It is having a Omni directional condenser, so it will pick up the sound 360 degree. We loved the fact where it has a long 6 meter cable, ideal for video producers like us. The quality of the audio cable is decent, though you got to use it with care, as it is thin, a bit delicate. If you use rough and tough then you can damage the cable. So use it gently. We liked the overall design of the microphone, it seems to be similar that of other lavalier microphones, though there is a switch for the DSLR mode.

It is very much easy to carry. After use we recommend you to keep the microphone safely inside the pouch.

User Experience

We have extensively used it for many days. We have recorded many videos using this microphone. The best part is that you will get an idea as this video is also getting recorded using the Boya BY M1 Lavalier Microphone. It has an omnidirectional condenser, so it picks up sound from all 360 degree sides.

We are happy with the sound quality. You can get loud voice for sure when recorded using these microphones. One part which we liked after using these microphones, that they have provided velcro for cable management which is really important, to keep the long 20 feet cable properly after use.

It is an ideal microphone for beginners for sure. Though if you talk about the noise cancellation part, it will pick up the nearby environment sounds for sure(but in low volumes, though if you know audio editing, you can eliminate that).

If you use them in a closed room, then you can certainly get the studio kind of recording voice, which you can experience in the video right now. If you have connected to your DSLR on a tripod, then you can move freely equipping yourself with the microphone. If you are recording important interview using the microphone connected on DSLR make sure, you use new battery otherwise if at all the battery is low you may loose that audio. So always keep new battery in handy while recording with DSLR for important audio recordings.

We are pretty much impressed with the performance of this microphone. If you are recording in a closed room, you can expect good noise cancellation too. Though in public places you can get some noise for sure as it is an omnidirectional microphone. It has amazing sound quality, happy with the product.

Final Verdict

This is the microphone for all the beginners and people who want good audio quality in their videos. This is a value for money microphone for sure. If you are capturing videos from your smartphones and are looking for a lavalier microphone then this microphone is for you. For DSLR users as well this is a good beginner microphone for you. It does the work of providing high quality audio for sure. Must buy for the beginners indeed.
